The Key Score

A score built for clarity.

Key Supplements reviews products by looking past marketing claims. Every score considers the evidence for the ingredient, the quality and dose of the formula, testing and label transparency, and cost per effective serving.

Our promise

Brands cannot buy a higher score or a favorable review. Our job is to make the decision clearer.

How we score products

Four factors, one practical verdict.

01 / Evidence

Does the ingredient make sense?

We look for relevant human research and assess whether the product's intended use is supported by the evidence.

02 / Formula and dose

Is the formula fit for purpose?

We check the ingredient form, the dose per serving, and whether the label is clear enough to compare fairly.

03 / Testing and transparency

Can the brand back up its claims?

We give credit for meaningful third-party testing, accessible batch information, and plain-language sourcing details.

04 / Value

What does an effective serving cost?

We compare price in context. A lower sticker price is not automatically better if the dose or formula falls short.

Reading the score

Scores should be useful at a glance.

9.0–10

Excellent

Strong evidence, a well-designed formula, and clear product information.

8.0–8.9

Very good

A solid choice with a small trade-off in price, format, or transparency.

7.0–7.9

Consider

Can fit the right person, but compare the alternatives before buying.

Below 7.0

Limited value

We see a meaningful concern with evidence, dosing, transparency, or value.

Editorial standards

Independence is part of the method.

Affiliate links do not affect scores.

We may earn a commission when you buy through a link. That does not change the research, ranking, or language in a review.

Reviews are updated when the facts change.

We revisit recommendations when formulas, available testing, or pricing change, and correct material errors when we find them.

Information, not personal medical advice.

Supplements can be useful, but they are not right for everyone. Consider your health history and speak with a qualified clinician when appropriate.
